John S. figures out Wallum

John Shpack came out on top in Avid’s second annual Mystery Lake tournament, held this year at Wallum Lake. John had a limit of largemouth that weighed 9.49 lbs., including the event lunker of 4.21 lbs. No one else was even close as the event saw more tiny fish come to the scales than any in recent memory, with most fish under 1lb., and not many of them to boot.

Second place was held by coangler Al Beaumier Sr., who had a mixed bag of 4 fish that weighed 3.48. In third was another coangler, Nick Mulcahy, with 3 fish and 3.2 lbs.

Not sure why the bite was so tough and the fish so small as the club had never fished this body of water before so there is little to compare to. Given the average size of the mere 24 fish caught was just 1.16 lbs. per fish, after a full day of fishing this lake continues to be a mystery to everyone but Mr. Shpack.
