Monponsett - Jun. 13, 2026
Ed Doyle ended up holding the winning bag on a hot, steamy day at West Monponsett. The lake had been on fire before this event but, with the spawn over and a searing heat wave bringing temperatures around 90 degrees all week, it was anyone’s guess what to expect.
As it turned out, nobody could find the big fish the lake had been turning out in weeks prior, but plenty of fish were caught, as shown by the three limits weighed and another two fish voluntarily not weighed.
A nice breeze breeze helped keep the heat manageable although the water and ramp were a madhouse with jetskiers and waterskiers buzzing everywhere by 11 am.
By the time weigh-in concluded the traffic had subsided somewhat and it was good to be able to find some shade and cool off. Ed’s limit of 10.41 carried the day. His 2.60 big fish earned him the lunker prize as well. In second with a limit of 9.22 was Dave, and Nick followed on his heels with a third-place limit of 7.91.
