AVID IS A MASSACHUSETTS BASS FEDERATION CLUB

2007 Tournament Report

Singletary - May. 12, 2007

Donovan Dominates at Singletary with 15+

The day started with the best tournout the club has seen to date. Out of a membership of 16, we had 14 anglers show up to compete. Even one who graced us with his presence for the first time in TWO years...welcome back Mark.

The weather was overcast early and it started a little breezy, but it cleared and the wind died as the day went on. There were some fish on beds, including some good sized largemouths very shallow. The deeper smallie beds were tough to spot because the water was slightly silted up with pollen. Water temps were in the low 60s.

When all was said and done the champion of the day was Mark Donovan with his mixed bag of 5 fish weighing in at 15.59 pounds. Congratulations Mark. I understand he was putting on a clinic out there and, judging by the totals, several of us should be attending his next class.

John Shpack weighed in the days lunker at 3.92 pounds. That one fish was worth $70. The new pay out matrix worked out well and the payouts were:
$120 for first
$60 second
$30 for third.

A total of 43 fish were caught; 31 smallmouth and 12 largemouth, for a total weight of 83.9 pounds. That's an average just shy of 2 pounds per fish.
